Home Made Pontoon Rod Holders

flying visit Milan

Life is short - and I think we should try to do as much as possible and therefore I found it very happy, as in the local ! was offered Stadtillu for Whit Saturday, a shopping trip to Milan.

by bus late at night going on the day in Milan and back in the evening. Quickly a friend who is kind whatsoever have been mailed, registered - and off we went.

somehow drove the bus other than I would have done: When I looked out in the morning and expected to be close to Milan, we drove straight through the downtown Zurich. Then I went through a beautiful, mist-shrouded in a bit early Swiss mountains in the Pentecostal jam the Gotthard tunnel . Then we drove along Lake Lugano to Como to Milan.

planned was to be early at 8 clock in Milan and I had got hold of two tickets for 9 clock for Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper in the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. When we finally arrived after 13 clock on the square in front of La Scala, it was too late for this course. But no matter, we are flexible. Added to this was: The weather was fantastic - sunny, warm, perfect. :-)

So we walked a little and only once have looked. We bought a drink and then we sat down comfortably outdoors and a little further away from the cathedral to have a snack.

I was 10 years ago for a day in Milan, at that time was a holiday (15th August) and we had the town almost to ourselves. This time the opposite is true: Tourists, Milan, on Saturday afternoon shoppende northern Italy and of course a mass of football fans made sure that the town was really crowded.

the evening was the final of the Champions League, Inter Milan played in Madrid, but Milan were tons of fans traveled to see the game and celebrate. At the cathedral a huge screen was set up - Public Viewing in Italy. Already at noon, fans booked on the Piazza del Duomo, the best seats and provided with horns include appropriate for a noise level.

A absolute must and always super is to visit the cathedral (including the crypt and the treasures I found interesting) as well as highlight an inspection of the roof.

You can walk (not too many levels is, fast) or by lift high. Stairs cost 5 EUR, Lift 8th

The view is simply bombastic, one sees the city of Milan and, depending on the weather far afield.

The details on the Domdach worth a good look, you see ornaments, statues and the golden Madonnina on the top of the cathedral.

I could finally see little tired and would have to spend hours on the roof of the cathedral.

We were there a long time - you can sit in between times and why, and it was sunny, too.

Nevertheless, it was time to go further and see more of Milan.

We strolled through some streets. I liked the Via della Spiga, which is next to some other adjacent streets, the square of fashion. All well-known designers in Milan's fashion district their shops. If you have time and money here find everything your heart desires. Interestingly, there

was also a grocery store that sold dried including giant mushrooms, fresh pasta and cheese.

little further north, found a park that invites you to relax.

The Indro Montanelli Public Gardens was crowded on Saturday difficult: families, children playing, couples kissing, newspaper reading older, walkers with and without a dog - and tired tourists. ;-)

Then I went with a short stop in a bookstore in the direction of Castello Sforzesco. On the way there's still some ice cream - delicious.

The Castello Sforzesco is large and fascinating. For the museums it was already too late, but time enough just to gain a first impression of the system.

A few of the towers reminded me somehow of Nuremberg ...

After a leisurely dinner out with beautiful summer weather, we are in the direction of Piazza della Scala, was supposed to leave from where our bus at midnight.

We had no direct view of the screens, but by the bawling and celebrations of the fans we got some measure of how it was straight. The photo left here worth Click the plan: We see in the background a piece of the game, massive fans, smoke, amidst a great backdrop.

As Inter had won then, of course, it was even louder, the typical car-Corso began.

It is almost a miracle that our buses were almost there on time and could pave the midst of the celebrating fans the way out of town.

About the San Bernardino it was back then, we were in after 12 hours of driving on Pentecost Sunday noon Kronach.

Conclusion: Over 14 hours one way by bus instead of 7 with the car is already borderline. Advantage of the bus next to the low price of 49.99 EUR is that you can have a drink (With red wine inside them to sleep on the bus much better!) And can not sleep. By car, I should have a night hung it - or the same made a two-week Northern Italy tour - and then take the time not so spontaneous. So that's okay. :-)

tips for Milan in a day:
  • visit the Cathedral and, above all walking around on the roof, statues and enjoy the view
  • may visit the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci (book tickets in advance)
  • visit one to two museums, such as La Scala Castello Sforzesco Museum

  • strolling and shopping :-)
General: Milan you can "Walk" prima - The distance of the sights in the city are not great. There is also a well-developed mass transit system in Metro, trams and buses, and bicycles for rent.
